Wonderful wedding locations in Lower Austria

Lower Austria is the largest federal state in Austria and is divided into four quarters: the Most, Wald, Wein and Industrieviertel, which run south and north of the Danube respectively. This means that couples have a wide range of wedding locations at their disposal that will fulfill every wish.

How about a wedding location in the heart of the Donau-Auen National Park at Eckartsau Castle? Stylish weddings and dinners have been held there for centuries, such as under the Habsburgs, where there is plenty of space with around 300 seats. This wonderful castle provides a breathtaking backdrop that is perfect for dreamy wedding photos during and after the ceremony.
But Hof Castle, a magnificent baroque castle in Lower Austria, also offers a fairytale setting for weddings. The castle impresses with its historic rooms such as the orangery, the Prince Eugen Hall and the jam kitchen. The idyllic baroque garden and the chapel on site are ideal for weddings and photo shoots.

Situated on a hill, the Gloggnitz Wedding Castle offers magnificent banqueting halls, a historic castle church and an idyllic castle park, ideal for unforgettable wedding celebrations. With space for up to 180 guests, both intimate ceremonies and large celebrations can be held in style.
For art lovers, the Kunsthaus Horn in the Waldviertel is an excellent option as a wedding location , located in the center but still surrounded by greenery. There is a church and a registry office on site and guests can stay in the hotel's own hotel. Many city dwellers, such as the Viennese, are drawn to nearby Klosterneuburg, which is surrounded by numerous vineyards. For example, the Zimmermann winery with its own wine press and civil weddings in the winemaker's house or in the beautiful vineyard is a good recommendation for anyone who wants to combine delicious food and good wine.

A well-known registry office in Lower Austria is located in the Old Town Hall of Mödling, which also conducts special weddings at certain locations upon request.

The Maschkern: This is how people celebrate in Lower Austria

A traditional custom in Lower Austria is the Maschkern, which livens up the mood at every wedding celebration. The term Maschkern may come from the word "masquerade". Even today, young people or acquaintances from the couple's hometown dress up and appear before the wedding party after dinner. There, funny stories from the couple's life are told and acted out using masks in pantomime or with photos on a screen. As a thank you for the entertaining performance, the couple invites the group to dinner. In some areas, the Maschkern ends with a wedding newspaper being handed out or a bride being kidnapped, which causes a lot of hilarity.
