>>> TOLL FREE >>> All year round you can travel TOLL FREE on the old Gerlosstraße (B165) from Mittersill via Wald im Pinzgau to Königsleiten.
(Alternatively: Coming from Mittersill via Krimml to Königsleiten, you travel via the new Gerlos road, which is subject to tolls, and pass the toll station at the top of the pass where you have to pay the toll fee.)
... ABOUT TYROL AND THE BEAUTIFUL ZILLERTAL
If you travel to Königsleiten via Rosenheim - Kiefersfelden - Kufstein and the Zillertal or via Garmisch-Partenkirchen - Innsbruck and the Zillertal, you will always travel toll-free as you do not have to pass the toll station at the Gerlos Pass.
IN WINTER
In winter, you can pass the toll station free of charge with your valid ski pass.
If you present your winter holiday reservation confirmation, you can travel via the toll station free of charge.
When you return from your winter holiday, please hand in your ski pass/keycard at the toll booth so that you can still use the free ride on your return journey. You will get the deposit for the keycard back at the toll booth.
To avoid the Zillertal, which is prone to traffic jams in winter, we recommend travelling via Kufstein - Kitzbühel and Mittersill.
WINTER TIRES REQUIRED FROM 1 NOVEMBER IN AUSTRIA
Since winter tires are mandatory in Austria from November 1st (valid until April 15th), we recommend that our guests equip their car with winter tires and, if necessary, snow chains for the trip.
If the road is covered with a continuous layer of snow or a layer of snow or ice that is not significantly interrupted, or if there are signs expressly requiring the use of snow chains, then snow chains must be fitted to at least two drive wheels.
