Great Hall
At the beginning of 2014, the Schmelzwerk was created by the Berlin-based quality caterer Markus Herbicht with great attention to detail and a high level of quality. Shortly afterwards, the Schmelzwerk became synonymous with a modern event location for up to 160 people, where tradition and modernity are stylishly combined. In the large hall, artifacts from the old chocolate factory meet works by the internationally renowned artist Stefan Szczesny. When the weather is nice, the green terrace is the highlight of every reception. In short: the Schmelzwerk is the ideal place for events of all kinds, premiere parties, company events, private parties, private dining, weddings, conferences and workshops as well as receptions.

Description of the gastronomy:
In recent years, Markus Herbicht has not only made a name for himself with his creative “capital city cuisine – made in Berlin”, but has also impressed with extraordinary events.
Whether a small reception or a large gala. Whatever Markus Herbicht does, he does right. The friendly entrepreneur knows what his customers expect and therefore takes time for every event, but also for the preparation of his dishes. And you can taste it.
The enthusiastic chef and his team therefore invest a lot of time in searching for special suppliers and products. Once found and approved, a close and trusting collaboration develops. For example, he gets his vegetables from the rare plant farmer Calo Polland from Uckermark, who often plants ancient vegetables or old, long-forgotten herbs especially for Markus Herbicht. He gets his game from hunter Richard from Fürstenberg, rabbit and poultry from the Beelitz open-air farm, wild perch from the Müritz and for bread he relies on the Soluna bread factory in Kreuzberg. With these high quality standards, it goes without saying that all dishes are always prepared without glutamate and other flavor enhancers.
In addition, the top Berlin chef makes sure to work exclusively with fresh products, to use meat from species-appropriate husbandry and to avoid fish from aquaculture. In addition, it is a matter of course for him to cook seasonally and, whenever possible and sensible, with regional products. As an enthusiastic globetrotter, Markus Herbicht also takes the liberty of using international influences and incorporating them into his creations.
As a specialist for events and catering that require cuisine and service at the highest level, Markus Herbicht naturally also implements his own standards when working with his partners and customers. Trust, reliability, punctuality, warmth and joy are just a few of the keywords that are particularly important to him and his team. With this philosophy and his professional time management, he always exceeds his guests’ expectations.
