The power place Mondsee Castle is located on the warmest lake in the Salzkammergut and directly on the market square in Mondsee. You will discover architecture from 13 centuries, stroll through medieval cloisters and linger in the atmospheric castle garden with its fountain of happiness.
The hotel in the monastery
The Schlosshotel Mondsee can look back on a history spanning over a thousand years. As soon as you enter you feel the very special aura.
The oldest Benedictine monastery in Austria was founded in 748. After much destruction and reconstruction, the collegiate church was built in the 16th century. The monastery in Mondsee passed to Napoleon in the 18th century and eventually ended up in the hands of the Almeida family. In 1985 the castle was sold to the Asamer family and opened as Hotel Schloss Mondsee in 2001.
During your holiday in the castle hotel in the Salzkammergut you can witness the times. Many paintings and furniture take you through the different eras. Even old walls are still preserved and marked and the old Benedictine bread oven can be admired.
