Description wedding venue
At the Parkhotel Schönbrunn you can get closer to imperial Vienna on a very personal level. It is located in the carefully restored rooms of the former guest house of Emperor Franz Joseph. This goes back to a snack bar that was opened in 1787. It was then taken over by Ferdinand Dommayer in 1823 and converted into an inn. In the decades that followed, lavish ball nights were celebrated there and the house became the epitome of Vienna. Several works by Johann Strauss father and son as well as their contemporary Joseph Lanner had their premieres here. From 1907 to 1908, the Parkhotel Schönbrunn was built on this very site according to the plans of the architect Arnold Heymann. In addition to 70 guest rooms and dining rooms, it already offered a ballroom and a Viennese coffee house.
Many guests of Emperor Franz Joseph I stayed in the first-class hotel in the following years. In 1911, even inventor Thomas Alva Edison was a guest at the Park Hotel. After the hotel was partially destroyed by fire in 1923, it served as a military hospital during World War II. After its closure, it served as the officers’ casino of the British occupation forces until its reopening in 1954. In 1963, the hotel was extensively renovated after a fire and expanded to become the largest hotel complex in Vienna at the time. Austria Trend Hotel has been running the hotel since 1999. In 2010, the hotel was again modernized and expanded. Since its ceremonial opening in November 2011, it has been allowing its guests to experience Viennese flair in all its facets and with every comfort through a unique combination of reminiscences of the imperial era and modern furnishings.
