Bride and groom can tie the knot in the historical Ravensburger Museum: The museum at Markstraße 26 in Ravensburg city centre is an official venue for civil weddings. In addition to the registry office, the town hall and the Bagnato Palace on the Veitsburg, those wishing to get married now have a fourth option for saying “I do” within the historic old town of Ravensburg. In the over 600-year-old patrician house, couples can start their life together in a playful way.
The city of Ravensburg has designated the Ravensburger Museum as an officially dedicated wedding venue. “All of the Ministry of the Interior’s requirements for a wedding room are met here,” says Uwe Wamser from the registry office of the city of Ravensburg.
The building at Marktstrasse 26 is one of the oldest in the city and is specially protected as a cultural monument. Many rooms bear witness to the historic past of the house and its residents. Since 2010, museum visitors have been exploring the history of the publishing house with the Blue Triangle, walking under a memory® cloud, finding oversized toy figures or stucco ceilings with historical city views.
The wedding ceremonies take place in a private room on the first floor, which can accommodate up to 40 people. To get there, the bride and groom walk through the “box cave”, past a tower of colorful game boxes.
“If everyone makes the other happy, both win in the end,” smiles registrar Uwe Wamser, who already has ideas for the appropriate wedding speech in the Ravensburger Museum.
