Description wedding venue
Framed by a historic wall, our beautiful monastery complex is located on the Thuringian border with Saxony-Anhalt, between Erfurt and Magdeburg. Amidst a wide landscape, now characterized by fields and meadows, Cistercian monks created a place to live and work here in the 12th century.
The grounds feature several spacious, medieval-style buildings that once served as a chapel, ox stable, horse stable, manor house, and residences. Sandstone masonry and half-timbered construction define the listed architecture. The ox stable has been converted and furnished as a restaurant and can be rented as a wedding venue. The registry office offers wedding ceremonies directly in our chapel.
