We started a survey on Facebook about marriage proposals... and were thrilled by the huge response (over 400 participants - 90% of them female) - and partly amazed by the answers! :)

The results at a glance
- 17 years - The longest relationship duration until proposal
- 4.24 years - That's how long couples wait on average until they get engaged
- 0.25 years - The fastest engagement among survey participants
- In 9 out of 10 cases it is still the man who asks the big question
- 21 percent propose marriage within the first twelve months of a relationship
- 27 percent in the period of one to three years
- 49 percent in the period of three to ten years of relationship
- 3 percent of those surveyed need more than ten years to propose marriage
- A quarter of respondents can also imagine that the first step comes from the woman
- None of the survey participants were of the opinion that the woman should propose. On the other hand, around a quarter are of the opinion that it does not matter who proposes.
Expectations about the person who proposes vary depending on the length of the relationship. The longer a relationship lasts, the more likely it is that the answer is “I don’t care”.
For women, it is more important that the man proposes. 75% of the women surveyed want this, whereas only 55% of the men see it as their job!
In fact, about 9% of women proposed, regardless of how long the relationship had lasted.
We would like to thank all participants once again!
